Love it or hate it, you’d have to be on a different planet to have not noticed the hype surrounding 2009’s Britain’s Got Talent.
Unlike some of the other talent shows ITV is renowned for, such as the X Factor, this quest is pretty unique… Well it was 2 years ago anyway.
Back in June 2007, the first winner of Britain’s Got Talent was Paul Potts. The heavenly tones of a mobile phone salesman projected into our living rooms -- and from then on, the nation was hooked.
The next Brit shot to fame in 2008, and went by the name of George Sampson… and where did he go?
Ah, that’s right, onto tonight’s semi final of the show.
I can feel a bout of, ‘Singing in the Rain’ coming on…
But all cynicism aside, the show has raised two undoubtedly talented stars… and left open the flood gates for some more questionable acts.
This year we saw the dark antics of Nick Hell and his comic sideshow.
I can just imagine the Royal response to that at the ‘variety show’… I’d had an earful.
We had the somewhat odd bloke who went by the name of “Darth Jackson”.
Who really shouldn’t have unveiled himself.
And then there was the drag Queen from Stafford, Peter Coghlan.
Britains Got Talentless I hear you ask?… Or just ‘finger licking’ good?
Ant and Dec make the auditions, just like they make the live shows. Along with the comical comments from the judges and I may add, the TALENT of some of the hopefuls, the show is undoubtedly infectious.
As for me? I’m hedging my bets on Stavros Flatley. If they’re not competition for ‘female Potts’ Susan Boyle, I don’t know who is?
